| Toilet
paper is not the most efficient or healthful way to clean
the anal and genital areas. Colored and perfumed paper is especially
problematic for those with sensitive skins. Wiping with toilet paper
may spread contaminants from the anal area and cause infections. |
| |
Water
cleaning sprays are more efficient because they penetrate skin wrinkles
and crevices.
Water
cleaning avoids exposure to the chemicals with which toilet paper
is often treated.
Water
spray cleaning avoids irritating rashes and irritations in these
sensitive areas.
Water
cleaning with the FreshWash toilet attachment is a "hands-off"
operation, which reduces the risk of spreading germs and bacteria.

| Constipation
can be relieved with water spray and water massage. |
| |
Constipation
is a condition in which bowel movements are infrequent (less than
3 times a week) or extremely difficult (a hard stool and/or the need
to remain on the toilet for more than 20 minutes). It can lead to
painful hemorrhoids and should be avoided. A diet rich in fruits,
vegetables, and whole grains is helpful in preventing constipation.
Those suffer the problem frequently should consult with their doctor.
FreshWash provides temporary relief from
the pain and difficulties of constipation.

| Painful
and irritating anal medical problems and symptoms can be
relieved with water spray cleaning and massaging. |
- Hemorrhoids
are a condition of varicose veins in the anal area which become
engorged with blood and bulge painfully. Internal hemorrhoids
are inside the rectum and are usually caused by straining during
bowel movements. They may cause bleeding. Any rectal bleeding
should be checked immediately by a physician. External hemorrhoids
are swellings or protruding masses near the anal area. Symptoms
include bleeding during or after bowel movements, bright red blood
in the stool, mild burning or pain during bowel movements, protrusions
from the anus during bowel movements, itching or painful lumps
in the anus area.
Eating a lot of fruits, vegetables and whole grains will ease
bowel movements and help prevent and ease hemorrhoids.
Water cleaning and massaging with FreshWash
provides temporary relief and eliminates the irritation of toilet
paper.
- Pruritus
is a chronic itching around the anal opening. It is caused by
digestive irritants in the stool which may be spread by the use
of toilet paper. It is usually an isolated complaint in otherwise
healthy people, but may be associated with another skin disorder.
In either case, irritation from bowel movements and from cleaning
afterwards prolongs the rash. It may be associated with hemorrhoids
and should be examined by a physician.
The recommended treatment is gentle cleansing with water, either
in the shower or by use of FreshWash. Daily application of topical
creams such as Lotramin cream mixed with 1% hydrocortisone cream
or Vaseline petroleum jelly are helpful. Some find it helpful
to avoid coffee, tea or spicy food, which can irritate the digestive
tract and increase the number of stools or rectal mucus.
FreshWash's thorough water cleaning
is a good preventative and treatment for this problem.

| Feminine
health issues |
| |
Vaginal
itch (also known as pruritus vulva or vulvae itching). |
| |
Itching
in the sensitive area may be caused by chemical irritants (detergents,
fabric softeners, chemicals in toilet tissue, etc); vaginal yeast
infections; and vaginitis, an irritation caused by other infections
including sexually transmitted diseases. Menopause and stress may
increase susceptibility to the problem.
To treat and prevent the problem, keep the vaginal area clean and
dry. Water spray washing and gentle during is very helpful. Avoid
toilet tissue with colors or perfume. Use only unscented soap. Use
undergarments with cotton rather than synthetics at the crotch. Avoid
feminine hygiene sprays and douches.
FreshWash's feminine cleaning with a gentle washing spray helps prevent
the problem and treat its discomfort.

Postpartum
pain |
| |
Vaginal
deliveries leave the perineal area bruised and sore, even when there
is no episiotomy or tearing. Discomfort may last from a week up to
a month. To relieve this pain, avoid touching the area and change
the sanitary pad every four to six hours, securing it firmly so that
it won't move around and cause more irritation. Gentle water washing
with a bidet or peri-bottle during urination will help dilute the
urine and reduce any stinging sensation. Cleaning the perineal area
with water or a medicated solution after going to the bathroom and
gently patting it dry with a towel prevents further irritation from
toilet tissue. Ice packs may reduce swelling. Avoid sitting for long
periods and use an inflatable rubber "doughnut" pillow,
which can be purchased at a drugstore.
FreshWash's gentle water cleaning and massage is an ideal treatment
for postpartum discomfort.

Bladder
infection or urinary tract infection (UTI). |
| |
Urinary
tract infections usually develop first in the lower urinary tract
(urethra, bladder) and, if not treated, progress to the upper urinary
tract (ureters, kidneys). Bladder infection (cystitis) is by far the
most common UTI. Symptoms of lower urinary tract infections include
back pain, blood in the urine or cloudy urine, inability to urinate
despite the urge, fever, painful urination, and general discomfort
or malaise. Treatment with antibiotics is customary.
Urinary infections can be best avoided by keeping the urethra and
genital areas as clean as possible. Women should wipe from to back
to avoid contamination from the anal area. Showers are preferred over
baths and water washing of feminine area is ideal. Drinking lots of
water helps eliminate bacteria from the urinary tract.
Using FreshWash regularly helps reduce the
risk of urinary tract infections.

Leucorrhoea |
| |
This
discharge of white mucus from the female genital tract is caused by
poor nutrition, poor health, poor feminine hygiene or infection. Symptoms
include irritability, itching, spots on undergarments, foul smells,
and black circles around the eyes.
FreshWash's gentle cleansing of female genital
area can reduce the risk of leucorrhoea and other genital diseases. |
